8 Students attend Cyber Security Training

February 8, 2022

In September 2022, the CYBASTION INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY sent a cohort of eight students to North Carolina State University to participate in cyber security training where they learn about fundamental concepts and design principles in cybersecurity. Next, they were at the Cybastion Institute office where they trained in Forensic and SCA analysis, SOC/CSIRT classes. Finally, they were taken to the Durham Technical Community College to participate in the 21st Century workshop. Emphasis was placed on practical lab works and assessments using new tools and applications widely used in the field of cyber security.

The teams were challenged to identify the characteristics of a variety of attacks and incidents, and at the completion of the training, they were able to show that they had learned how to work together to solve complex cyber security and incident response challenges. These challenges included the latest techniques by the Advanced Persistent Threat Groups. The team identified command and control and tunneling communication methods which are state-of-the-art in the industry.

Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate their understanding of the five key elements: Cybersecurity Foundations, Software Security, Hardware Security, Network Security, Incident Response and Digital Forensics and to demonstrate improved language skills and ample progress in the particular topic areas.
